Brighton & Hove, East Sussex · BN1 – BN3 & BN41
Whether you own a flat in a Regency terrace, let rooms to students or run a seafront bar, we carry out CCTV installation in Brighton and Hove, from Portslade to Rottingdean, plus door entry, access control and electric gates, all fitted by our engineers.
Brighton and Hove packs a great deal into a narrow strip between the South Downs and the sea. Listed Regency terraces face the seafront, Victorian streets climb the hills behind them, shared student houses line the Lewes Road, and warehouses and trade counters sit out at Hollingbury and Portslade. If you are looking for CCTV installation in Brighton, the right design depends on which of those your property belongs to.
Regency Security has installed CCTV, door entry, access control and electric gates across Sussex since 1999. Every job starts with a free survey, and you get a written, itemised quote for the equipment your building needs and nothing more.
Large parts of the city are listed or sit in conservation areas, including Brunswick Town and Adelaide Crescent in Hove, Regency Square, and the grand squares of Kemp Town. Most of these houses were divided into flats long ago, so one building might have a basement flat reached by steps down to a lightwell, a shared front door and several floors of residents above.
That shapes the job. We use compact cameras in colours that suit the render, route cables through existing voids and behind mouldings, and make sure the lightwell steps are covered, as they are often the most hidden way in. If listed building consent or the freeholder's agreement is likely to be needed, we tell you at the survey. Where every flat still has an old audio handset, we replace it with door entry in Brighton from Videx, Commtel or Entrotec, so each resident can see the caller before buzzing them in.
With the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton both in the city, Moulsecoomb, Bevendean, Coldean and Hanover have a high share of shared houses. Tenants change every summer and keys rarely all come back, so landlords and letting agents usually ask us for:
The same set-up works well for access control in Brighton offices, shared workspaces and holiday lets.
Bars in the seafront arches, independent shops in the North Laine and The Lanes, and hotels around Regency Square and Kemp Town all handle heavy footfall on summer weekends and late into the night. Typical commercial work includes:
Away from the dense centre, detached houses along Dyke Road Avenue and in Tongdean, Withdean and Patcham often have room for a proper gated entrance. We fit electric gates in Brighton and Hove using FAAC, CAME and BFT motors, add an intercom at the gate and connect it to your phone, so you can open up for a delivery wherever you are. As Gatesafe registered installer #2187, we safety test every gate before we hand it over.

FAQs
Fixing cameras or cables to the outside of a listed building may need listed building consent from Brighton & Hove City Council. If your flat is leasehold, the freeholder or managing agent will normally need to approve it as well. We look at the building during the survey, suggest the least intrusive positions and tell you which permissions are likely to apply.
Yes. Landlords and letting agents in Moulsecoomb, Bevendean, Coldean and Hanover use our keypad and Paxton fob systems so access can be reset for each new group of tenants without changing the locks. We can add video entry for the tenants and cameras on external doors and bin stores, kept away from their private living space.
Yes. Conditions differ from venue to venue, so bring a copy of your licence to the survey. We place cameras to cover the entrances, the bar and any areas the conditions name, set the recorder to keep footage for the period required and show your staff how to export clips when police or licensing officers ask for them.
Yes. A keypad or fob lock lets you change the code between bookings instead of handing over keys, and a camera on the entrance shows you when guests arrive. Cameras must never cover the private space guests are paying for, and guests should be told about any that are fitted, so we keep them on external doors and shared approaches.
Often, yes. Once a camera records the public road, though, the footage falls under data protection law. We use a narrow field of view aimed at your car and away from neighbours' doors and windows, and explain what that means for storing and sharing recordings. Many residents add a second camera over the front door for parcels and callers.
